USBs

USB Drives (also called) Thumb/Pen/Stick/JumpDrives) are a great alternative to disk-based media. USB Drives come in different shapes and sizes, and can hold between 2MB to as much as 64GB.

If you've never seen a USB drive before, here's a brief explanation of how they work:

The drive uses flash memory to store data.  Unlike most computer drives, there are no moving parts. They're "plug & play" with most PC & Mac computers. When you plug it into an available USB port on a computer, it functions like a traditional drive & can be loaded with information. You can password protect the data so it can't be overwritten- or allow the user to re-use the drive with his/her own content. USB drives generally need to be "ejected" using the operating system before removing them from the USB port

Our Clients have used USBs as promotional devices, or to record and distribute content from meetings or events. We even do on-site duplication and distribution.

Here are a few things to keep in mind when choosing USB as a media platform:

      • Not all USB Drives are the same!

      • They can vary by size & speed, technical standards and resistance to

         impacts & shocks.

      • Synergem uses only Grade A drives.

There are two technical standards: USB 1.1 and USB 2.0. These two different standards transfer data at significantly different speeds.
